It has come to my attention as of late, that alot of new members might be missing out on the core principles and ideas that GMC is founded on.
By this i mean, when Kris started this site i belive he had a very specific message to get across about how to learn and practice. This is feel might be missed now that we are a content rich site.
I belive many new players/members would benifit from listening to Kris's 101 Series first, before movieing onto the rest of the content! I think this is a foundation simply not to be missed!! Not only is it teaching people correct practices but it also explains why things are done a certain way ! And more importantly students will better understand what GMC is all about as a whole package. (I hope this makes sense!! )
I am finding more increasingly, alot of members are confused about how to practice scales and improvise, which is something I learnt very quickly though the 101 lessons. And have no doubt others would.
Of course some more advanced players will want to join up and do some more advanced lessons with our other awsome instuctors which is great. But i was thinking that maybe we could highlight the 101 lessons more as a suggested foundation for new members? Maybe as a direct path after beginner lessons.
Thanks for listening to my ramble
Not to Mention they are too damn funny sometimes !
Thanks Matt - yes that is how it started!
For those of you who haven't found my 101 lessons yet, http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/search_results.php?formSearch=101+spokenthey are.
There are other values that dont show up on the videos. Ones that have to do with respect, politeness, and being humble. Its apparent all over the forums. In this way, the GMC community seems very.....refined?
I ended the "kick off" and started practising the scales (10th day).
Didn't know about the 101's so thanks mattacuk great help. Only I get a new problem: What 101 should I start on? random choise?
Thanks for bringing this up Matt.
I was one of the people bombarding the forums with questions, yet few weeks back i understood i needed to visit the 1-0-1 lessons.
The main ones are the alt pick, tapping and penatatonic box lessons
Are there any others that will specifically help us on improvisation?
Kris, youve done a great job on these lessons and theyre the main reason i joined GMC through short 101 lesson adverts. Any plans on making more 1-0-1 lessons in the near future? I think we could use some legato and sweep picking 101 as they specifically with great accuracy point out common mistakes and straighten things out that people mostly do wrong quickly. All thats left from our side is to practice.
I agree a 100%!
