I can't wait. But why do they have to show us this and then tell us it won't come out for a year? That's just mean. It looks like its done. Why can't they put it out next month or something?

I read ALL the Tolkien books biggrin.gif even the versions written in old English biggrin.gif

If they were to make the movies respecting ALL the things written, each LOTR movie should be at least 6 hrs long!

Anyway, I am so thrilled about this movie!

The Hobitt will be about 6 hours long, because it's divided into 2 parts, the first coming out in Chrristmas 2012 and the second one year later.

I'm glad I'm not the only hardcore Tolkien fan here. I've read LOTR about 11 times biggrin.gif

Yeah I'm watching that one for sure smile.gif

Hehe, I would be very interested to see this movie, "Hobbit" was one of my favorite childhood books. Will it be 3D?

Posted by: Alex Feather Dec 23 2011, 02:21 AM

I remember watching the cartoon when I was a kid. I loved the music.

I love the writing of J.R.R. Tolkien as well, I have read every book related to Middle earth and even his non-middle earth stuff many times. Next to the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'brian they are my favorite series, so there are at least 3 hardcore tolkien fans here smile.gif

I totally understand Ivan, the first time I read them I was completely clueless as to what was going on in the book for most of the time. But I stuck with it and eventually began to understand and enjoy the series. Two books that really helped me with understanding are Tolkien's Complete Guide to Middle Earth by Robert Foster, and The Atlas of Middle Earth by Karen Wynn Fonstad. Both these help in knowing who's who among the characters and understanding the maps and geography of Middle Earth. smile.gif
