Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi mate!!

Before commenting the lesson, I've like to say that your guitar looks killer! biggrin.gif

Your playing here is very good. Again, the thing that attracted my attention first is your vibrato which is wide and expressive as the style requires it. There are two technique comments that are not affecting this lesson but that focusing on them can avoid issues in the future when playing faster stuff:

- Try to make your right hand alternate picking movement smaller. Always focus on economizing movements.

- Your sweep picking needs some polishing. The techniques requires a full sweep movement. You are picking each note with a downstroke and separating each one, while it should be an unique smooth downstroke. That's why it's called "Sweep". Check out Ben's right hand and you'll see what I mean.

Other than that, this is very good. Congrats!!

Cool!

It should be noted that one of Jason's trademarks is his 'whammy bar pre bending'. Ben shows this clearly towards the end of the solo. This stuff is impossible to do without the whammy bar since you cannot bend downwards without a whammy (unless you want to do it with the tuning pegs while playing! 😱 ). So basically Jason would first press the bar, then play the note and then de-press the bar.

Having said this, you still convey great musicality here with your wide vibrato.

The technical stuff Gab mentions is what you should focus on if you wish to get a faster, more relaxed and more flexible technique. Use every opportunity you have to minimise your movements and decrease tension in your hands/arms.

Keep up the good work, you get an 8 from me!

Hey there!

I see you did lot's of lessons parallely. What I can spot, are similar issues, as pointed in other takes of yours - mainly the problem with vibrato inconsistency, timing slips and sweep pickign that is not sweep picking (which was one of favorite techniques from Becker BtW). I think you got some constructive feedback on this already and you did some improvements in a 2 take of other lesson. My request for future takes would be to experiment with camera or speaker placement becasue we losoe a lot of details from your playing sad.gif There are phase issues happening due to camera-to-speakers placement.
