This definitely won't be my final take as I know my timing is still off. I think I'm ahead of the beat during the beginning sweeps and I rush into the final A power chord at the end. I figured I'd post this take for a bit more advice. Sweeping at a moderate speed like this is much more difficult than I thought. It seems so much easier to go slow or fast. Thanks again guys for having a listen. It's foundational things like hand synch, bits that we do a lot of in bootcamp, that come in to play when playing things like this. It's so important that each note is tied to a beat. If one or two notes rush the beat, then it sounds rushed. One beat behind it sounds lagged. As gabe says slow down a pinch and try to practice with a metronome to hear the click and tie each strike to a click. Also, i think maybe you could mute just a bit more, not a lot, just a bit, to help separate each note when you are sweeping. The more note separation the better!. This is showing very good progress and I think you will sort it on your next go around. Also that axe looks and sounds great!!! I want one!! From one point you go through the lesson to learn something new - to get some new skills. From the other point you do only a draft and let most important thing to happen randomly. When you try to learn some technique you should be really solid on details of hand work. Notice how instructors hand looks while playing. See where the resting points are, how the angles are set, how the motion looks in his take compared to yours. Most important - WHAT IS EXACT PICKING DIRECTION. You didn't copy exact picking direction so you are not getting the poitn of this lesson. Remember - if you pass on bad habits at this point, it will take twice as much time to fix this in the future. The biggest issue for me is related to timing when you make bigger position shifts. So to play this convincingly - I would recommend you focus only on the segments that involve position shifts. What I suspect happens is that you do not reach the new position in time. So you basically start a little late and then try to catch up.
