Metronome, Do I need one?

This is because it creates good habits NOW when you most need them. IT will keep your playing in-time and even, most of all it will set you up long term with good habits. I remember watching Kris's lessons and hanging onto every word, something i have never forgotten is when he said something along the lines of "without the metronom you will never be a flashy guitarist" and "take my word for it, without a metronome you wont be a pro player, you will sound like sht" "from today always use a metronome" and I did!! But also I must confess that I didn't use it a lot during my beginner age, and that's because it was quite hard to get even strings for guitar So I played along with tune or track all the time,and wasted many hours I guess . There are some freeware metronomes available. Try searching the forum for it, there have been some threads recommending software metronomes. Both downloadable and online versions. Later on when you can really start jamming, you may end up not using it as much in favor of just playing with a backing track, which is more or less what a metronome simulates (a drum beat, to keep you in time). So yes, definitely get one now, it'll never be an obsolete tool for you [edit] Yes, like blindwillie said, there is an option to get a free metronome online.
