But when participating in both categories, you would still have bigger chance to win than someone, who has the webcam already and thus sending only video's.
The bad logic, that I see is, that if you post one video lick, you have better chance to win, than if you post two videos, because of your videos, stealing your votes Thats all of me, I wont destroy your day more by my whinning I know, I am hopeless -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus

Yes, we will definitely give feedback, thats a great idea.
Jakub, thanks for your input - I guess my view is that your chances of winning are influenced more by the quality of your lick than the amount of times you enter. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Oh.. the most important question I forgotten (silly me...)
This will be voted by members or instructors(better idea IMO - I can explain, why I think this, if you want:D)? EDIT - added few words:) This post has been edited by Jakub Luptovec: Feb 13 2008, 12:30 AM -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus

I was planning members, but we could look at alternatives - why don't you go ahead and explain why you think instructors would be better

With pleasure
I would like to compare this contest to t-shirts desing contest:) First of all, "Lick of the day", in my opinion, is much more important for getting new members - I doubt, that i will attaract more than a few with t-shirt On the other hand, the Lick of the day is one of most important free parts of GMC - I am sure, that lots of todays members (me included ) came here day to day to check out the "Lick of the day". And one day, they told themselves... "Man... look at that HUGE lesson archive with HUGE number of licks of the day... now that would be something! ". Due to this, I would choose the more experienced to decide on quality, cleanliness and supported materials (scale, theory and some text) and to place their votes. I myself, after half a year of playing, dont feel competent to compare licks of 5 years and longer playing guitarists Second reason is, that I believe, that instructors (and we can surely include seniors, admins etc..) can stay more objective when judging - I can imagine a situation of me, writing to my buddies here on GMC to put a few votes for my lick (I wont do it of course ) And even without sending PM's.. some members might just vote based on their personal feelings - say he doesnt like blues, there will be blues lick (better) and metal lick (worse) and he will vote for that metal, just because he doesnt like blues. To summarize it, I am fully convinced, that Instructors, as much more experienced players, than most of us, members, can better decide quality of playing and can stay objective EDIT: With regards, Jakub "phoenix" Luptovec This post has been edited by Jakub Luptovec: Feb 13 2008, 09:57 AM -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus

Well Main reason for me saying that is, I'm probably going to enter a little sweep lick but.. Your sweeps put myn to shame . Don't worry buddy! Your sweeps will develop really soon and you won't believe how good you can sweep eventually This is a competition for members, not instructors so i just had a little joke there Keep sweeping man - it really is an awesome feeling when you get it clean and fast -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

I will arrange it with drums and orchestra for you so your 8th notes will sound 4 times as fast supported by the double-bass drum! -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |
