Hey guys,

Just wondering has anyone purchased or used a Digidesign 003 Rack or Control suface?.
It is a highly expensive piece of equipment and I was thinking of purchasing one though
are they really worth the money?

Cheers,
Barry.

It was reviewed in the May 2007 issue of Sound on Sound Barry. Got the issue here - and to summarise - 003 now has word clock, extra headphone and monitor out, better preamps, extra/more control, ignition pack 2 worth having. Negatives - only 4 mic preamps, only 003R has ignition pack2, basically a remodeled 002 rather than a new product. So worth a look if you dont have 002 but maybe not worth an upgrade if you do.

From the conclusion: 'Digidesign have cleverly chosen to upgrade features that will benefit most users...[and so] make it easier to operate Protools using the control surface... definitely an improvement on 002 in all areas.'

Looks pretty positive. If you have a subscription to SoS you can read the article online btw.

One thing to consider though - if you don't wnat the improvements then an ex stock 002 should be marked down by loads now.

Cheers,
Tony
