Hi Liam, welcome to GMC !

I'm not too familiar with Rush (I know - shoot me !) but it sounded good smile.gif

What are your guitar playing goals ? Any techniques or things you're looking to work on ?

Thanks man!

Im really looking to improve in anyway possible. Lately Ive been working on improvisation and adding new techniques into my solos and looking at how I can use scales in new ways Ive not tried before and I guess just making a solo my own while using the techniques I have picked up from tutors I have been taught by and guitarists I listen to and learn from. I guess its a pretty difficult thing to pin point though...

As for goals I basically want to be the best guitarist I can be, I want to be playing gigs regular, writing and recording my own material both instrumental and vocal (Ive been in touch with some singers who might be able to help with that since i don't sing).

I have the exact same Simpsons poster.

What's music like at college? (I assume A Level?)

I did music technology and it was such a waste of time >.>

Hello and welcome to GMC! I am a Sambora and Mayer fan myself and since we are talking about this, I will shamelessly promote one of my lessons laugh.gif -> https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/John-Mayer-Style-Ballad/

I think a lot of students have an expectation that they will get a lot of hands on studio time and learn how to record and mix. As far as I know most courses actually give you little hands on time in a studio. It's certainly considerably less than if you did 2-3 years training in a professional studio. Our trainee will have racked up over 2000 actual hours studio time by the time she's finished here.
