A Teisco 'Zen-On' from probably 1964 or so - ?
She's a little 'squirrely' but that neck pick up smokes! (IMO)

Yeah, I thought about that adjective before I wrote it. Wasn't sure if some of the Europeans would make sense of it.
Anyway ... Squirrely - have you ever tried to catch and hold a squirrel in your hand? The tuners are a little unstable, the electronics are noisy, the pickups are super microphonic (feedback/squeal), the pickup selector switches are loose and easy to hit. It's a 50 year old 'cheap' guitar. It probably cost $25.00 new (or less) in 1964. Not like in-expensive guitars today that are generally of decent to good quality instruments.
But the neck is straight and it plays in tune. The neck pickup rocks and it's gonna be great for adding some funk, soul and weirdness to tracks. Out here it's requisite that you have one or two 'cheap' guitars if you do any session work. The hard part is finding one that plays relatively in tune.

Cool guitar and playing! I like the warm tone that you get from it! I saw the Black Keys live some days ago and the singer/guitar player used many vintage guitars that looked as cool as this one.

Well, now I understand its purpose in your arsenal, so it's all good 
I have a friend owning a very old Romanian built guitar that LOOKs squirrely
but it's as sturdy as an oak and sounds like the sweetest tele!

I love the way it sounds so I'm going to take it to my tech and see what he suggests for making it a little sturdier and quieter (new tuning gears and maybe re-wiring the electronics and changing/fixing the switches). I don't have any real desire to use it live. Recording only.
