define "long time"

And if you mean download as in dl to your computer it's not even possible so that would take a long time, an eternity in fact. tongue.gif
You can only watch.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I'm an itluddite and I don't know what my internet speed is. I am not downloading anything else but the buffering process takes about 15 minutes, is this normal.

Thanks.

No, it should start in a matter of seconds actually, are you using dail up, cable, or another kind of connection?

I'm using dial up, I think. My internet is on all the time and I believe it's called ADSL. Anyway I can enter web pages very quickly. Sorry to be so ignorant about computer stuff.

Then I don't think its dial up if you enter websites at a high speed.

I have 512kbps high speed but my download is usually 60-70kbps on average (dunno why). I have to take about 20 seconds to view a main video without any interruptions and about 40-60 seconds to view the small broken up video lessons.

If it takes time just leave your computer on to load the lesson and then get back to it later (best you can do).

Also close all other programs that use the net (Limewire, BitComet and dont surf other sites).

And use a good anti virus and spyware program to remove viruses.

Here are some good free ones (only download one otherwise they wont be effective:

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Defi...tml?tag=lst-0-2
http://www.download.com/1-2-3-Spyware-Free...tml?tag=lst-0-4

THis should help smile.gif

In order to improve the site's performance it would be very interesting for us to know the following from the ones that are experiencing problems.

*Do other video sites (such as youtube.com) load quickly for you?

*In which country are you located?

*Are the videos always slow - or does it depend what time of the day you try to view them.

*Has it always been like this, or has there been a recent change?

Thanks! smile.gif

Speed is also dependent on the contention ratio (more or less the ratio of users to the connection) and line/signal quality.

Might not be relevant for you Greg but where I live in Spain a lot of people use a shared microwave connection.
You can pretty much tell when it's 2pm as the microwave connection speed drops to a crawl as kids come home from school and adults go home for lunch.

Our home connection here is 512 but the actual download speed varies as we run several pcs and a phone to it through a router. If my wife is on the phone the download speed can drop to between 3-5 - that takes something like 30 mins to load a short 2-5mb video to play sad.gif .

One day we might get a proper fixed telephone line at this house so we can have cheap and decent broadband and then the internet will truly be ours. I'm not holding my breath though.

Cheers,
Tony

*Do other video sites (such as youtube.com) load quickly for you? The same

*In which country are you located? Spain - but not in a city

Kris - my poor video download speed I think is due to the connection here then anything at your end.

Nonetheless loading a video can take anywhere between 3-5 mins and upto 1/2 an hour. That's assuming that the hamster who generates the electricity at my ISP by running in his hamster wheel doesn't get tired
during the 1/2 hour and go for a toilet break. When he does the connection times out and it's start again. Poor hamster.

Cheers,
Tony

I am not sure, but I think we made the switch before you found us. smile.gif

When watching a lesson you will notice you see www2 in the address field - this means you are using the Europe server.

Except with the 101-lessons. Maybe it's my computer, but they are very slow! They 'shock'. (Kris says something, halfway the sentence the video stops and then continues. This is the same with the imagestuff)
