GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Yessss! Its Here:)

Posted by: Jakub Luptovec Mar 30 2009, 12:16 PM

So I heard some rumors here and there and now its finally here:)

Jeff is IMO one of the best guitarists in the world - you know, that kind of guy, he can talk like a mere mortal, knows theory as jazz god, plays like beast and his technique is just Godly.. Those sweeps he plays here are IMO SO ORIGINAL.. you know, its not just standart up and down but he really plays with it... I must get this:)

And now the best part - it costs 10.00$...

Really cool.... Maybe i should buy it

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Mar 30 2009, 12:24 PM

Looks pretty cool! It's not my style, but looks nicely made. Anyone know the price?

Posted by: Artemus Mar 30 2009, 12:24 PM

Ah cool. I do have lots of respect for Loomis and his work in Nevermore. I'll have to check this out when I can. Thanks for sharing

Posted by: Jerry Arcidiacono Mar 30 2009, 12:29 PM

It looks really cool, I will check the DVD in the future.

Posted by: Jakub Luptovec Mar 30 2009, 12:53 PM

@ Ivan: Its 10 bucks - sure buy for me, once it gets into this small toilet, called Czech Rep. in middle of Europe... Gold heart of Europe? Pche.. Everything is here too late and too expensive:D

Btw. What I Dont like on it is the background... It seems too chaotical for me. Just plain couch and some wall with nice pictures would look so much more professional...

Posted by: ZakkWylde Mar 30 2009, 12:56 PM

I ordered it when it came out and it's great! Just a little short...

Posted by: Guitarman700 Mar 30 2009, 01:02 PM

Got it Yesterday. Freakin sweet. And i have lots of time to practice it over spring break!

Posted by: AlexLion Mar 30 2009, 01:37 PM

10$? o_O i need to get that..

Posted by: 29a Mar 30 2009, 02:02 PM

I have it and must say it's pretty cool. A must-buy if you're a fan wink.gif I can go into more details about whats on it if somebody is considering buying it.

Posted by: Jakub Luptovec Mar 30 2009, 02:26 PM

Deep: Is there something about his picking technique etc(that talking kinda stuff, that David Wallimann does in his lessons) , or its just about theory stuff/his favourite shapes/patterns and its uses in his songs?

Posted by: DeepRoots Mar 30 2009, 02:55 PM

Its mostly about favourite shapes and patterns etc- though he does throw in a few bit of advice like try starting on an upstroke and staying relaxed while picking, probably nothing you haven't already heard though.

Posted by: Praetorian Mar 30 2009, 03:07 PM

Wow...that guy plays clean!

Posted by: audiopaal Mar 30 2009, 03:37 PM

Posted by: David Wallimann Mar 30 2009, 03:55 PM

Thanks for the link!
Jeff is amazing...

Sounds great !

Posted by: Pedja Simovic Mar 30 2009, 04:41 PM

I like a lot some of the runs I heard in there. Definitely worth checking out in my opinion !

Posted by: Marcus Siepen Mar 30 2009, 05:45 PM

Jeff is one of the most talented players I have ever met. Back in 1995 Nevermore were opening up for us in Europe and I was blown away by his playing.

Yes yes, Jeff is awesome indeed:) I already learned a bit from Jato unit - a lot slower than he plays it, but it has very creative ways of using even the most basic sweep shapes, so it sounds beautufil, looks complicated and is easy to use

Posted by: Marcus Siepen Mar 30 2009, 05:56 PM

Just ordered the DVD, shipping to Germany was only 4,75 bucks, thats a great price for such a DVD smile.gif

@Pedja: :-O I didnt think, anyone will be interested in this:D Right after I get home from school, I will make a upload for you:)

I appreciate your interest very much:) Just dont expect it, to be fluid, not even talking about clean:D He is unbelievably skilled player and I am just 1.5 year playing apprentice biggrin.gif

I wouldn't suggest buying the dvd if you don't have a seven string guitar because more than half the stuff Jeff Loomis plays in it is for seven string guitars. but it is a very well put together DVD.

Yeah, I'm totally on the fence on this one myself. I've loved Jeff's playing ever since I heard him in Sanctuary in the early 90's... and I really love his new solo album. But sadly I sold my only 7-string a few months ago (decided I have enough problems with 6 strings lol) and already have too many other DVD's, GMC lessons, and books/cds to keep me busy. But just knowing that this DVD is out there... ugh... I'm sure I'll cave eventually (after I track down the person I sold my 7-string to and beg for it back!).

There were some nice lines in there. Does he demonstrate it in his video ?

Posted by: Jakub Luptovec Apr 5 2009, 04:38 PM

It will take me a bit more time, than expected, since we are changing internet provider and thus I am off net for some time...

Posted by: TreyDeschamp Apr 5 2009, 04:44 PM
