Ok Im new here and with all the info Im having a hard time desciding where to start. Im at level 2 maybe going on 3 at this point. I figured it might be good to go back to the basics and start again since its been so long since I picked up an axe...

Any suggestion appreciated.

the numbers aren't quite as good a measure as you might think. I think you'll get more (and better!) suggestions if you delve a little bit more into what sort of goals you have and perhaps what you think you would like to be able to do as you progress.

In the short term, there's two lessons that I recommend to anyone for ANY style of music later on:

Guitar Loves Piano and Jumping Around - Beginner

I'm sure my personal taste plays a part, but these are excellent foundation lessons that require some very basic --yet often overlooked-- techniques.

Ok, for very basic material, we have the new series Beginner's Corner or Andrew's First Steps.

You can also use the search engine on the main page, looking for some lessons which fills your musical taste.

I think Adrian's lessons are great for beginners and intermediate players, especially if you like straight forward rock.

Yeah, You need some more specific goals. The basic things really pays out, but by doing only exercises we lose motivation (well thats my opinion).

So if You have time to both practice some lessons that You like, and also learn the theory/playing/chord basics, than do it. Start VERY slow with the metronome with really simple exercises, pay attention to as much details as Your concentration lets You, and increase the speed gradually until You can't play it the proper way. This I think is the best way to improve technique relatively fast:)

Well I have a very broad listening spectrum, I like everything from thrash to some of the classical stuff, jazz, blues, metal, rock. I very much want to understand the theory part behind music, and as time goes on be able to rock out. I dont expect to become a super hero guitar player, but would love to shread hard, do some cool tricks for my enjoyment. I dont know if those goals make any sense but it was worth a shot.. wink.gif

I'd suggest using the Search feature on the top right corner of each page. You can select the difficulty level, genre of music, type of lesson, and even the instructor. That should be able to help you find a few lessons you want to start working on.
