Okay!

Electric guitar (May ’08 – present)
Acoustic guitar (September ’07 – present)

Influences
Kirk Hammet
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
David Gilmour

Styles
Metal
Neo-classical
Blues (Modern, with distorted sound, Gary Moore-wise.)
(jazz)

Strenghts
I really want to learn this instrument, good will!
I consider myself a good rythm player
I got a lot of time, at least for now.

Weaknesses
1. Right now, I think my technique needs to become alot better
2. Improvising. I know too few licks and scale patterns properly.
3. Ear training.

Goals
Be able to play blazingly fast …
… so that I won’t be limited when composing, improvising, playing covers, etc
Be able to compose, everything from heavy metal riffs to jazz backing and 12-bar blues.
Be able to improvise over anything (see list above!)

Theory

I know minor/major pentatonic, one 3nps major pattern.
Know the theory behind modes, chords, harmonies.
I know the theory behind all scales, but I have never learned the patterns.

Favorite songs
Metallica – Master of Puppets
Metallica – Creeping Death
Metallica – One
Basically everything from Metallica up to (including) the Black Album and Death Magnetic.
Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb
Gary Moore – The Loner
Gary Moore – Still Got the Blues
Steve Vai – For the Love of God
Joe Satriani – Always With Me, Always With You

I can play 4 notes pr beat at 117 - 120 bpm, I know the basics of sweeping, really want to get a system on my practicing, because most of the time I just play songs I already know. Trying to learn Canon Rock atm, and I have begun listening to classical music. I want the MTP program to make me better at practicing, with giving me a plan, a schedule. i am looking forward to be critizised on my playing, as the only people who watch me play don't know that much about guitar playing (drummer tongue.gif ).

Very cool Sondre.
I would like to know what is your purpose of MTP program, besides getting some structured plan and sticking to it?
I am thinking specific things like improvisation, theory and harmony, songwriting, technique, ear training etc. What do you consider to be your biggest weakness, what needs most work in your opinion?

Excellent Sondre smile.gif
Now its more complete and we can definitely work with things mentioned. As far as critique goes I will tell you like it is 100% of time, you can count on it biggrin.gif Facing the reality, dealing with it and finding solution to become better something is best way to improve in my opinion. Say hello to your drummer friend - we will use him/her later wink.gif
