How many packs of strings do you buy at one time ?
I usually get 3 because I'm a cheapskate ! To be fair, they do last me a long time..

I usually get 2 or 3 packs at a time and a few extra high E strings just in case, I actually broke a D string the other day , that was kind of wierd.

I buy strings in usa, so even with shipping cost it's much cheaper for me |

I'm still an Ernie Ball 9-42 guy. I almost took a brave step and ordered 10s this time but just couldn't do it !!

I know some guys with endorsements from smaller string companies.... you never know, they could have something you like!! If you did a search of smaller string companies, and sent a press pack (etc.) saying that you are looking for a string endorsement and you would like to sample a set of strings, I bet you might at very least get a bunch of free strings.

I get 10 - a box. I use them sparingly because I too am a cheap-skate! I normally only put on new strings when A. They fall off, or B. I have a show/recording the next day. I rarely put them on "day of" because I like to let them settle a little.
