GMC Forum _ Instructors Corner _ Free Program For Scale Diagrams

Posted by: Juan M. Valero Mar 2 2008, 06:53 PM

Well, now I start working with the "Exploring guitar", a free program to do the diagrams and it's great, now I'm able to do a complete diagram in few seconds, hehe, but it has a problem. This was that the neck was very different than instructors usually use, so I was thinking how to resolve this problem and I decided to paint a new diagram that works in this program and that was as similar as the GMC one.

Well, just dowload the program, and to change the freatboard just copy my diagram in the folder GRAPHICS (well it's not ecesary to put in this folderm but I think it's the best place to put it tongue.gif) and in the program click in 'guitar neck' and 'load new guitar neck' and then choose my freatboard biggrin.gif )

Here is my diagram:

..ah, and I put www.guitarmasterclass.net biggrin.gif

Here is the http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/misc-lessons/exploring-guitar-software-tutorial

ah, the 88 and 87 is the % in the size reduction that I need to obtain the 692x125 (which is the size for the diagrams in the lessons smile.gif)

 JM_NECK_FINAL_88____87_.bmp ( 340.53K ) : 459
 exploring_guitar.rar ( 3.23MB ) : 354

Good found Juan! I think the scale diagrams in http://www2.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/country-bluegrass-solo-advanced/ work - so if you want to speed things up with this software it sounds like an excellent idea! smile.gif

Uhm, Juan man, I can't properly use the software, because that custom fretboard is not the same as the one in the program. The one in the program is some like "curved" and I can't set the dots properly. Did you have a similar issue?

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Mar 14 2008, 12:32 PM

Thanks Juan! I'll try it!

Posted by: Andrew Cockburn Mar 14 2008, 01:31 PM

I found this too, but you need to pick the alternate notes as well and it works fine!

(Away from my home PC at the moment so I canlt give you the exact steps)
