Two Gigs This Weekend... |

Hi guys! I played yesterday with Cirse, I just wake up and in around 1 hour I have to go to the sound check of this night's gig. GIGS days are usually very long and I feel a bit tired today.
Have you ever had many gigs together? How did you feel? This is a backstage pic waiting for the show yesterday. You can see me practising with a nice Schecter Tempest Custom.

Yeah, it can be fatiguing.
Next saturday I have three different gigs in one day. One in the day and two at night back to back. Thankfully the two at night are in the same venue (though with two different bands). *I have had two separate gigs in one night at different venues. In Los Angeles that can be stressful due to potential traffic and parking issues. And when you tour, no matter how 'big-time' or indie it is, you're giging almost every day. It's worse for singers! Even with good technique (and who in rock music uses perfect technique live?!) many gigs in close succession don't give the vocal chords enough rest.

Two gigs is not uncommon here (L.A., Nashville, Austin, NYC) but three can be problematic.
The two night time gigs are similar and I'll use the same set-up but the day time gig is a completely different thing so I have to bring two rigs around that day (also a change of clothes). I'm hoping I can go home between gig 1 and 2. *And I literally just realized that I also have a 'brunch' jazz gig on sunday (the next day) from 11:00 to 1:00. The musicians are all cool so everything will be fun and I'm sure go smoothly. It's more about keeping my head on straight. Where am I and what songs do we play? What makes me laugh is that I've got nothing going on next week except on wednesday (and maybe a banjo session but that's a big 'maybe') and then slammed on the weekend - feast or famine. To be honest, I never get 'used' to that. And yes, singers have it way worse when they have to do what we call a 'double' (two gigs in one day).
