Tuning up this evening, my G string sounded a little strange to my ears. Not as bad with no effects but with effects it just sounded a little odd.

What do you think?

Could it be hitting the first fret?

It does sound to me like it probably hits a fret. But I'm no expert smile.gif

I wonder why I've never noticed it before, it's pretty much my go to practise guitar. I'll check this evening.

The neck must have back-bowed a bit due to winter, very normal and basic adjustment. Loosening the truss-rod gently should fix it, should take just a minute for a luthier.

I can do that if required, it's just that I play it most nights and I'm sure it wasn't like it on Wednesday. It never drops cold in the house either.

Cool, judging from sound is hard but try no more than 8/1 loosening as the buzz isn't too bad. Also keep in mind loosening may not be immediate, it may take sometime for the wood to adjust to new stress.

I can't think of another reason it happened out of nowhere but this is what happens often.

Didn't sound as bad this evening, first dry then wet.It wasn't catching a fret, I put a piece of paper between the string and frets and it didn't buzz, maybe it would have yesterday huh.gif

I hear a bit of fret buzz about 3 seconds in? But it's not terrible.

3 seconds in is the G string but I know it's not hitting a fret, very strange!

If the truss-rod adjustment won't fix it, than maybe it was lubricated and the lube dried-out making the string move in the nut.

But keep in mind since the distance we're speaking is less than a mm, playing the guitar a bit layed back vs playing it parallel to the floor might make a difference.

I don't understand what you're saying buddy huh.gif I was playing it in a seated position.

Do you think it sounded as bad in that second recording?

Cheers

I mean if sitting like in this picture, the guitar has a bigger chance of buzzing;

It's a bit exaggerated but can happen since such small distances can mean a lot.

Ahhh, this is how I sit, https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...st&p=783709

I'll have a good look this weekend, it honestly didn't seem as bad last night though, maybe 1/8 turn on the true will do it as you suggested wink.gif
