2020 is turning out to be a bit crap imho. There have been some high spots. Phil got a spiff vacation place! Folks have gotten some cool gear. But overall, with covid and folks seeming to be dropping like flies from every reason one can think of, it's been a bit of a rough one so far.

I hope it turns around.

It's ironic that we got our holiday home because of Covid. It should pay for itself in three years if we don't go abroad though technically it is in a different country so we could say it's abroad cool.gif

I probably shared the story of buying my old amp.

I went to PMT in Oxford to look for a nice new tube amp for my country rock band, and they brought a Fender Hot Rod Deville 2x12 in for me to try, the cleans were beautiful and it took pedals well so the dirty channels limitations didn't bother me.

So after about an hour of playing with it I went to pay and they said they had to let me know that it was slightly used.
Peter Green had played recently in the Oxford Playhouse and his own amp and an issue during sound check and they lent him the Deville, as a favour and he returned the favour by signing the manual with his full name Peter Greenbaum.

One of the best Gigs I ever went to was the return of Peter and the Splinter Group at Guilfest! It was the first show he'd played in 20+ years! Absolute magic.
He will be sadly missed.
RIP.

Thats pretty darn cool. It's a real piece of rock and roll history now. One of the Hard Rock restaurants might want to pick it up from ya!

Making the best out of a bad situation. It's very British. smile.gif Also not complaining. We are a pretty loud bunch of complainers over here in many cases. Not all, but many. Where as many Brits seem to take a stiff upper lip approach. Again not all but many. Anyhoo, I'm just glad you got a nice vacation place smile.gif

BTW I saw that sporty beamer of yours and cant help but wonder if you stuffed it with racing parts?

Todd

Cheers buddy,

I had it when they first came into the country in 2014, got a steal, it was a showroom car already registered with only 70 miles on the clock, yes, seventy. There over £7k of options on it that I didn't pay for. It's a 435i M Sport and plenty quick enough for the road not far behind the M4, makes passing the Sunday dawdlers very safe when you drop it down a few gears, you're past them in no time, back on your side of the road and back to a nice enjoyable speed, though the M4 looks a bit special, the ride is a bit harsh, I don't know why they don't make the Ms with a comfort setting, you don't need stiffness all the time. I love it, it's done 70k miles now, time to change it soon but I can't decide on what.

Nice! Yeah, too many cars get testing on the nurberg ring and then they ride like an old truck, stiff, bumpy etc. Variable suspension is always handy but not always enough. Glad you got one that rides like a touring car but still has plenty of grunt smile.gif The M series have been very nice cars since forever. Maybe another M?

It's not an M4 buddy, it's a 435i M Sport, the M Sport pack is the normal 4 with a bit of a body kit, uprated suspension but not as stiff as the M4 and sports seat, black roof lining, 8 speed 'box with sequential lever and flappy paddles on the sports steering wheel, the M4 looks much more impressive than mine wink.gif
