Friend of mine who owns a guitar store (gives lessons too) said he had one for a long time but had to sell it for financial issues.

He told me that guitar had the lowest action that didn't buzz at all and the neck felt amazing. I'm so curious I'd like to try one one day, specially the jason becker model these days smile.gif but for that tone the amp is needed too biggrin.gif

It was the amp I was referring to, altho he's playing a Carvin guitar as well smile.gif

In the video, you can see the Carvin Legacy heads in the background.. I wondered if it was those that are providing Neil's tone because if it is, I'd love one of them one day smile.gif

It's Steve Vai's signature amp

Oh yeah somehow I misread smile.gif

I personally don't like amplitube for distortion stuff (as there is a carvin there) but on computer, try inserting a tubescreamer emu after an amp that produces flat-fluid shreddy tone and distortion. Sure not the same but should help giving that effect smile.gif

I've used them as backline a couple of times. The first version, 100 watter with a 4x12" slant cab.
The lead channel was way too gained out for me so I just used ch. 1 with an OD pedal.
They definitely are loud, cut through and would not mask any of my technical deficiencies, lol!
I liked it. It was 'fast' ... as in fast response, like a good 100 watt Marshall.

I can imagine.. most people (in metal at least) seem more aware of ENGL, Blackstar etc.. so would be interesting to try one out. I don't really consider myself just a metal guy as such. Yeah, it's the backbone of what I do but I like more of a melodic, soulful tone and this amp sounds like it's got it. The JVM I've got is great too, no plans to change it.. but to try one of these would be fun smile.gif

I think you'd be hard pressed to find one to try in the UK, I imagine they are fairly rare in the US where Carvin is
