Hello Solle!

Welcome to your MTP program.
I hope you will enjoy the assignments as much as I will enjoy working with you man.
Since you are doing very good with technique and expressed theory and harmony as one of your main goals in MTP, for your 1st assignment this month I have chosen to start some theory and harmony with you. Please let me know if you find the assignment too difficult or too easy for that matter, we shall change the pace as we go along.

1st assignment is due on November 10th (a week from today).

Theory reading :

- I would like you to read my posts from links provided below.
- Once you read it all, memorize 3 and 4 part harmony in C major scale.
- Learn to apply scale degrees rather then numbers ( I in C major is C, IV in C is F etc).
- Write out in this thread all notes for 3 and 4 part harmony in C major scale.

Here are the links:

Major scale harmony and chord functions

Cadences

After you write out 3 and 4 part harmony in C major scale, I will ask you extra questions (quiz you in a way) with other keys so be prepared.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Pedja

Thank you, this will be great. smile.gif
It is not too difficult, or too easy, but at times when I have extra time at hands, I might do things bit faster than other times.

Now, if I understood this correctly, and if I understood your question correctly, here goes:

II: D Minor - D F A
III: E Minor - E G B
IV: F Major - F A C
V: G Major - G B D
VI: A Minor - A C E
VII: B Dim - B D F
VIII: C Major - C E G

4 Part harmony:

I: C Major 7 - C E G B
II: D Minor 7 - D F A C
III: E Minor 7 - E G B D
IV: F Major 7 - F A C E
V: G Dominant 7 - G B D F
VI: A Minor 7 - A C E G
