> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi mate,

Your playing on this one seems to be very good. However, there are parts in which is tricky to notice if you are going tight with the backing because the mix is not very good. I cannot hear the backing track, but from what I can hear you didn't pitched the backing so your guitar goes on a different key compared with the backing, isn't it? If this is the case, I don't recommend to practice in this way. If you want to use a different tuning, I recommend to use any kind of pitch shiftier that process the backing and make it sound in the same key.

About the mix, I also think that your videos could sound better if you use any kind of daw to record audio, mix it there and the insert it in the video. If you need help with it, just let me know at the mentoring thread.

Keep on the hard work!

Hey George!

As Gab pointed - unfortunately dissonances between guitar and backing track sound really bad and makes us not able to correctly judge the pitch for example. You have a little gift from me in your inbox (backing track in A). Please redo the take if possible smile.gif

Hi George, the lads have already mentioned the difference in tuning with your guitar and the backing.

But in terms of technique/ performance I would say that you need to get the timing much tighter yet. At the moment you're tending to play in front of the beat too much. You're hitting notes and chords a fraction too early. Try to hold back a bit and listen to the drums to make sure you're not rushing ahead. If you play at the same tuning as the original then you can also practise along to the main lesson and use the original guitar track a another useful cue.
