Legato Etude Lesson

For some strange reason we haven't spoken to much about this awesome and highly useful guitar technique. So I am very happy Pavel took the initiative!

A little parenthesis is that I find that legato improves your tone even if you are a 100% picking guy - so this is definately something for everyone. Very shortly I believe it's because you actually get sound of the fretted note that 1 nanosecond before you hit the string with the pick (thanks to legato) - I have noticed a huge different in my own picking tone when I have spent time improving my own legato... enough babbling!

Stay tune for lots of cool updates this week!

Thanks for your feedback, hope you're right! smile.gif At the moment I'm also working on improving my legato and I noticed my left hand is starting to work better even during picking.

Very Cool Lesson! I often refer to this in our practice sessions/lessons on Saturday as "Playing Pickless" or "Sans Pick" as it's left hand work and sounds slightly different than saying Legato, or "Pure Legato" without any pick strikes. It's a KILLER way to work on your hand strength and control and honestly will improve your overall playing enormously once you start picking again.

Being able to play without the pick entirely is (IMHO) critical as it turns the pick in to a tone choice more than anything else.

Todd
