Hi everyone.

Just for something to do, I decided to spruce up my old, non-functioning Omen 6 a bit. To start out I changed out the standard pickups with Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro IIs. I installed them, and I changed the pots because the original ones no longer worked. Unfortunately when I went to put the tone and volume knobs back on, I realized that the pots I was using didn't fit in the bore holes. I went back and looked at the original, and realized that I had not noticed a small difference between the standard pots and the ones that had come on the Omen; the screw that sticks through to the front which the knobs attach to are a few millimeters thinner on the Omen's stock pots.

So now, my choices are either to bore out the holes further (which my brother is advising against, saying it would ruin the finish), or buying new pots and redoing all that stuff I worked on today (which is a pain but shouldn't be too bad.

Is boring out the holes really that bad of an idea, or is it doable? Also, if I need new pots, what kind do I need?

Thanks for any help guys.

edit: the topic title should have said 'non-standard pots', not pickups tongue.gif Will teach me to type too fast!

So as the thread title says, I'm looking to buy a new guitar, for one reason in particular; none of my current guitars have a tremolo on them. So I'm basically looking for something cheap that I can just practice using the trem on...however I don't want to skip out on quality too much either. So if anyone has any suggestions as to a cheap guitar that sounds decent, I'm all ears! Anything under $500 is what I'm looking for.

I like to play mostly metal and blues btw.

Thanks.

Whats up everyone! I was playing the videogame guitar hero 3 at a friends house and I heard a song from Eric Johnson, who apparently works with Joe Satriani often. I've since gotten a bunch of his music and I like it alot! I'd love to see a lesson on upbeat, happy guitar solos like in Cliffs of Dover.

I'm getting a great deal on it at $1200. I played it and love the feel, look and sound, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with ESP standards and how well they hold up over time. Thanks everyone!
