Hey guys, recently ive started writing a bunch of post-rock stuff (just after a friend suggested i wasn't too bad at it) My problem is I only listen to a few post-rock bands and I need more inspiration!
At the moment I listen to: God is an Astronaut Explosions in the Sky Mogwai This Will Destroy You Nest Oceansize Sigur Ros The Album Leaf Do Make Say Think 65 days of Static God Speed You! Black Emporer and If these Trees could Talk
Any Recommendations!?
also if you have time if you could check out some of my work and tell me what you think I would appreciate it www.myspace.com/faulsounds

A few more Smikey: Mono Cul de Sac Electrelane Jackie O ... Jim O'Rourke Tortoise
Personally I really like Cul de Sac and Tortoise. Jackie O and Jim O'Rourke have been around for ages.

Very chill sound you have going Mike. I enjoy the melodies and the sounds. I miss some tempo variation though, but I wonder if that is just a result of the post rock genre. It all flows together really nicely though.

Man I seriously wish I can help you but after reading your list you made me worried a lot. I don't know any of those names I should really sit down and discover some bands like that - at least informative.

Its a great genre for sitting back at the end of the day and just relaxing too. Can't be head banging all day ... i mean...not everyday

When I read a post and don't recognize one single band mentioned in the thread I know I'm either too old, too young or too stuck in the 80's!!! \m/

Amazing that you should post that one. I only recently heard the album and haven't been able to stop listening to that song To me 'All is violent, all is bright' is one of the best albums in it's genre.

Good thread, I would like to know more, All the bands you listed are pretty much all I know as well
God Is An Astronaut is just....Well....Amazing. Recommend that band to all.

From what I've heard sofar I'd have to say that God is an Astronaut is my favorite in the genre.
Btw, if anyone wants to try something related that is a bit heavier I'd recommend trying the album 'Panopticon' by Isis.
