Jafomatic you got me thinking! I want to know what the purpose of the duck tape is. Anyone know, or have a guess?

You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

To minimize the extra noise of the strings. Noise dampening. I've seen it done with masking tape, but not duct tape which is significantly less temporary.

ok, but why not just use a hair band or something mellow.gif Tape is overkill and can damage the guitar obviously. Thanks for the answer smile.gif

Well yeah, that's why I'm hoping it's not duct tape. I've seen Aleksander Sukovic use masking tape on the *strings* but that's not touching the fretboard; it's just looped around the strings. This guy's got something between the strings & fretboard.

I guess he needs something a little extra to REALLY dampen the strings to play this material
