This is tough. I found so much great music this year. I think it would have to be a toss up between "Fear my wrath" by Grizzly, and "Amongst the ruins and Ashes" by Wolves carry my name. Both albums were are available for free download on bandcamp by the way. What about you Gabe?

I hate to be "that guy", but I think I'd have to say Periphery II was my favorite release this year.

Most definitely 'King Animal' from Soundgarden, 'Periphery II - This time it's personal' from Periphery and 'Koi No Yokan' from Deftones!

Great ones! I have to hear more songs from the new Deftones album, I just heard 2 or 3 that were fantastic.

other than Ben and Cosmins stuff, Ive also been impressed with what Ive heard from ' The Temperance Movement'. I think they just have an EP out at the moment but its really good, vocals especially are outstanding, Id love to play in a band with this style of vocalist.

Orchid released an EP this year as well called 'The Heretic' which was damn good. The title track and 'saviours of the blind' in particular have rarely been off my playlists.

Hopefully both these bands will be playing in Scotland sometime soon, I really want to catch them live. I'll bet they are ridiculously good.

Great stuff mate! I'm impressed by "The Temperance Movement"! This song is killer. And Orchid has that Black Sabbath darkness... thanks for sharing!!

This one as the best debut album, and overall best heavy metal album that came out in 2012 !

Besides The Reckoning and Days of Confusion I especially enjoyed the new Deftones album and the new Die Toten Hosen album.

+1 to DTH! I am very impressed of the quality of this new album. I'm now anxious to hear the new one by Bad Religion.

Yeah, it was the best DTH album in a long time!
And I can't wait for Bad Religion as well, the first song sounded very promising!
