I'm on a lookout for a new guitar..... and i noticed this new Jackson 2009 model:
http://www.jacksonguitars.com/products/pro...duct=2914001803

I thought it was absolutely stunning! But it's comes with SD Zebras.. anyone tried those and have any comments/complaints? I've heard some samples but never tried them out myself.

Pricetag isnt exactly huge either.. and the specs (except the pickups and inlays) are identical to my SLSMG.
I'm quite keen on buying it smile.gif But, i was also hoping to find a more all-around guitar then what i allready have.. would practically end up with the same one as i allready have if i bought it.

This is exactly your SLSMG down to the last detail, it's the same guitar with a diffrent name and just comes with passive pickups and fretboardinlays...

http://www.jacksonguitars.com/products/spe...duct=2914001803

The price of both guitars is the same so you're not really upgrading when buying this one, you are just buying a diffrent version of your old guitar... If you love your SLSMG and want another one, you might just get this one but if you want a *better* guitar then this is not a wise choice

AFAIK Seymour Duncan has no pickup set that's called *Zebra* it's just the coil color! Guessing from Jacksons general pickup configuration I am pretty sure that's a Sh-4 Jeff Beck in the Bridge and either a Sh-1 59 or a Sh-2 Jazz in the neck.

Aha! Thanks for the info smile.gif
Odd though, I could have swore i had seen and heard the name Zebras before as a set-name..

I am a tonefreak and very interested in pickups but I have never seen a pickupset called Zebra by Seymour Duncan but almost every Pickup is available in Black/White zebra color - although it might be possible that Jackson has it's own Zebra set that is not available on the retail market and only built into Jackson models...

The very first releases of the SLSMG had the HZ set, they changed the default set to actives sometime later. So i got the one with actives.

Looks amazing in white, but does it really offer anything above your soloist? Your red one looks awesome too.
