How do you choose music to listen to ? You know the situation.. you've got a car journey or you're sat in front of the pc and want some suitable sounds in the background. Do you look for something that will provide a certain mood or are you quite random about it ?

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to make a choice of what to listen to these days. In some cases, I end up listening to nothing because I can't make a decision !! laugh.gif I usually think of what songs are on that album and whether they make me feel good or not. I think I'm going to have to make the leap to ipods and stuff so it can be random and I don't have to deliberate about it any more !! wink.gif

That is a good question!

I usually have a good idea of what I feel like listening to. If I cannot make up my mind I go back to "Traditional" Scandinavian/Viking and Neo-Folk. People are always shocked to hear this since I listen to Black Metal so much laugh.gif

For me I either put my car radio on Pandora and I let it play or I'll randomly pick a band that I feel like listening to when scrolling through my iPod.

I also consider this very difficult. Even more when I'm going out and I have to choose something. Most of the times I choose albums that then I discover that don't want to listen. tongue.gif

Many times it boils down to what kind of mood I'm in. If I'm happy, then it will probably be some kind of Rock n Roll happy sounding major key/chord stuff, if I'm mad or depressed its usually Blues. Also, many times what I'm listening to is determined by what I am working on in guitar, so if I'm learning a cover song then it will usually be played quite often in the course of the day!

I like to just get the last few albums I've aquired and put them on Random so I get a mix of music that I've not heard before.
If I'm travelling to work at a Festival then i'll try to listen to some of the Bands that will be appearing at that particular festival. On the way to a Gig I might try to listen to that bands back catalogue if I don't know it too well, or if I know the Band then I'll listen to them anyway!!]

Long drives early in the morning: Loud, fast, aggressive, and lengthy songs.

Long drives taking entire days: Everything.

If I have short journeys I want something with some classic tunes that will fire me up.. if it's a long journey I'll most likely choose something more... relaxing smile.gif

I don't drive laugh.gif ...yet. BUT I always choose new music when I am walking, because otherwise I wouldn't find the time to sit alone and listen. So, the street is my listening room tongue.gif

It's weird but I can't imagine listening to music whilst walking down the street. It would feel like I'm surrendering one of my senses and then get hit by a car or something ! ohmy.gif

This developed all my other senses smile.gif I see things around me before they happen sometimes tongue.gif not like it may sound but, pretty close. I am always aware and spotting people or events which other folks may not normally see. For instance, I am always aware of the surrounding elements, because I may be under attack from some mean people and I have to know what to use to defend myself smile.gif pretty SF right? laugh.gif

Very true... when certain senses are taken away from us, other senses improve to compensate. smile.gif
