I'm now a proud owner of a Line 6 Pod X3 Live!!! I've messed around a wee bit with it (I've only had it for about 15 minutes now), and it seems to be pretty great. I love it!
Does anyone have any awesome presets that they'd like to share? And does anyone have any specific advice they'd like to give on playing live, or what kind of settings I should use for a great tone? I also got a pack of the Jim Dunlop Nylon Jazz III Picks... any other suggestions on pick types? EDIT: Added the pick section. Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard (Modified), Yamaha Pacifica (Black; modified with different humbuckers and a few other things) Equipment: Vox DA5 Digital Amp (It's a little weak, but fun nonetheless), Line 6 Pod X3 Live Wishlist: An Ibanez RG Model, and a yummy Pavel and Andrew Cockburn JEM.. Mmmm. I'd also love a Marshall Stack. That'd be awesome. :D |

Sadly, I never got to try the XT Live. I was going to get the XT Live, but then I saw the X3 and I began to drool.

I don't know if the patches are compatible between XT and X3? If so I really love Marcus tone. It's available in the forum somewhere. I also found it uploaded on line6. I've made a "tone" myself that I really like for slide and bluesier stuff. Regarding picks I prefer Brain picks. They are compatable. I downloaded Marcus Lavendell's *.l6t file and used Line 6 Monkey to put it on my X3 Live with the USB cord. Line 6 Monkey is available at http://www.line6.com/monkey. It works great, I love playing with his tone and the wah--sounds fantastic! I'll tell you all whenever I get some great tones set up. I've learned the settings, so now setting delay, etc. is fantastic. I will try and get some pictures posted sometime. PS: Thanks for that, Marcus; it's one of my favorite tones so far. for live playing i suggest using dual tone with 2 amps and having one on each side of the stage.
this way if you have no monitors and not mic'ed up the entire band can hear you and it sounds awesome offstage. -------------------- Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ Dual EMG 81 Pickups. Hey, thanks! That sounds like a great idea. The dual-amp setup I've used at my dad's already, and it's pretty nice. It's a little awkward though when one amp is 250 watts and the other is 5. -------------------- QUOTE (Kristofer Dahl) ...you will have taken your very first steps towards Johnson land... I want to get a POD X3 Live but I dont know if I want that over a Boss GT-8. Both would be cool.
I have a Digitech GNX4 currently. |

I just bought the POD 3X, its awesome, and it makes my 20w rocktron sound awesome. But how am i suposed to get the softare so i can play through my laptop and record? can't figure that out. I thought it would begin to install when i linked it with the USB 2.0 to the computer, but it didn't, can anyone help me? Go to Line 6's Website and get Line 6 Monkey for your Pod. This will allow you to get the drivers and such that you need for the Pod. In order to record, you need some sort of recording software. I use Adobe Audition, but it is a bit expensive; there are plenty of free ones out there. In fact, check out this topic. If you need anymore help, just ask. -------------------- QUOTE (Kristofer Dahl) ...you will have taken your very first steps towards Johnson land...
