I'm not sure how much help can be offered on something like this, but I'm working on writing a song for my 2nd band and I'm really having trouble coming up with a solo. I might be able to just throw something down that would be decent, I guess but after listening to some of my favorite solos I really want to come up with something great. I have backing rhythm that I really like and there is one measure that changes to 3/4 time and I know what I want to do there, sort of a staccato thing that follows the backing track, sort of Scavenger of Human Sorrow-ish. But other than that one measure, I can't think of anything.

Yet again I'm not sure how much help can be given on this subject but If it will help I can post the backing and you guys can give me some tips.

Thanks regardless though.

Also, besides backing, throw in some of your licks, so we can hear what you can use best.

If you post your backing as a guitar pro tab, I will try and come up with a solo for you and tab it out in guitar pro smile.gif Then you can choose whether to use it or not.

The solo is basically right at the beginning of the song so it isn't a big file, just the intro and the solo until I put the rest of the riffs down. I don't think any of that is really important for this anyway. Thanks a lot though.

And just in case it's needed info I have 24 frets and a floyd rose so I can do dive bombs and squeels and hit the 2nd octave. I can do some sweeping as well so don't hold back in technicality since I need to improve anyway XD.

I highly doubt I'll use anyone's stuff 100% like they did it since I want it to be own so if you get more than one idea don't hold back.

Thanks in advance.

Ever heard the solo in Halo from Machine Head? smile.gif Maybe that's some nice inspiration.

Dminor and Dharmonic minor scales can be used for this one. You can use whatever technique you have at your dispossal, I suggest pinched harmonics, octaves, simple fast licks, and fast AP runs.
