A Request For My Fan Game Options

Hi! I've made a post about my fan game some time ago and we're a little stuck, regarding the sound tracks. I want to give it my best but I have zero experience with composing and remixing music. Could anyone help me with one of the tracks?

I would like to make it sound more darker and add bits of electric guitar but I don't even know which program to use. Is Reaper okay for such purpose?

Simple quick way would be. It's in the key of C min.

Main bit goes 1 b2 2.....1 b3 2.......

In other words C Dd D........C Eb D.......

Either make that last 2 (D in bold) into 7 instead (so that's the note of B ) or into a b5 (Gb) or just keep the D and add B and Gb to it.

Reaper is a great daw. It comes with quite a few plugins that you could tweak the sound with. Maybe elaborate a bit more on what you want to do with the soundtrack? Darker is a big vague imho. Do you mean less treble?

I'm sorry I didn't specify it in the first post. I meant to keep the original melody but add tight distorted power chords, and maybe swap some of the instruments to fit the 80's synthwave theme. In general, I want to try making it in a way so it sounds similar to what Gabriel composed as a Collab suggestion (attached below).

Thank you for pointing out the key of the song. Should I consider re-tuning my guitar to Drop C, for the low power chords? I don't have a 7-string and my brother doesn't keep his bass in tune, so that would be the only option.

Also, does Reaper have the Synthwave instrument samples available? Ableton has one in store, for $49 and if that was on sale, I might get it but everyone here seems to recommend Reaper. I can see myself doing Synthwave + guitar music in the future, so that wouldn't be a one-time use.

I have my eyes on Akai keyboard, MIDI controller or whatever it's called in English and I might get that soon but I'm also considering a baritone guitar (they seem to be made for use at lower tunings).

You can use the mouse on reaper to compose with plug-in synth.s. A midi keyboard map opens and you draw the notes on it.

No worries. Drop tuning it worth a try, just make sure the bass guitar can match the tuning without turning in to a floppy string mess. As for the synth, here is a free one for reaper with tons of presets. IT's a vintage synth so it should work great!

Cool, keep in mind even if you use a midi keyboard after recording you can fine-tune the midi notes/velocities with the mouse for perfection. Using only mouse can be a hassle if you're going to use a lot of notes, but for now it will be a great starting point for learning.

I played keyboard a bit as a child, so that may be easier for me but first I need to set up Reaper properly. I'm learning from the thread you linked in the other topic but it will take some time
