Posted by: Guitar Master123 Oct 29 2007, 03:51 AM

I was just wondering who everyones favorite band is that isnt making music anymore.
Mine is definetly AC/DC. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: Slammer Oct 29 2007, 03:56 AM

CREAM! (They broke up much too early)

Posted by: JVM Oct 29 2007, 03:56 AM

I am sure they aren't. They made their last album in 2000 and split up in 2003 sad.gif

I have 12 of their albums

Posted by: FretDancer69 Oct 29 2007, 04:09 AM

That would be Guns N' Roses. I know they still "exist". But its not the same without the others.

Posted by: The Uncreator Oct 29 2007, 04:12 AM

Well, Guns n Roses is now Axl and Co.

....

Anyaway, i think mine would have to be Mercyful Fate.

Posted by: Vinicitur Oct 29 2007, 04:19 AM

Anacrusis

One of the first bands who blended progressive with thrash

Nope, they're working on an album right now.

Posted by: Guitar Master123 Oct 29 2007, 08:58 AM

How do you know? Ive figured that they split up since they haven't made an album in 7 years.

Posted by: JVM Oct 29 2007, 09:26 AM

Well, press released and stuff by the band. Stuff like http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/interviews/acdcs_new_album_is_gotta_be_perfect.html. Why would you just assume they broke up if you hadn't heard otherwise? Thats like, assuming a married couple has divorced because they havent had a kid in 7 years (not quite, but you get my point hopefully tongue.gif)

Posted by: Bedlam Oct 29 2007, 09:46 AM

Maudlin of the Well
Rage Against the Machine
Infectious Grooves

In football guys know when to quit, after they get beaten to a bloody pulp on the field because they stuck around too long.

However as rocker has beens don't receive that treatment, many never figure it out.

I am referring to real football, not the girlie man variety.

Do you know when it is coming out? And if they are going to tour again i will die of excitement. (pretty sad)

Posted by: shredmandan Oct 29 2007, 12:47 PM

I would have to say Fear Factory.Yes they are back together but, without Dino there original guitarist and i havent listened to them since he got kicked out basically

Gotta also say that Pantera was a big shocker for me .I know dimebag has passed but before then once i heard they split it was a sad day sad.gif

Posted by: spdalton Oct 29 2007, 01:01 PM

Yea GnR is definitely not GnR anymore. Axl is not what made that band.

Pink Floyd. Closest I ever got to seeing them live was Roger Waters sad.gif.
Audioslave.
Black Sabbath with Ozzy.

Posted by: Guitar Master123 Oct 29 2007, 01:29 PM

Now that I know that my answer can't be AC/DC I choose Pink Floyd... or The Police. Ugh, i cant decide!

Posted by: blindwillie Oct 29 2007, 04:38 PM

Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd... I'd guess all of my favs have split. Except AC/DC biggrin.gif

Posted by: Animosity Oct 30 2007, 04:38 AM

Ooooooh, let's see here:

Thin Lizzy
Led Zeppelin
Deep Purple
The Who
Nirvana
The Traveling Wilburys (Although I do like Petty and the Heartbreakers more)
Cream

I'm sure there are more that I just can't think of right now...! laugh.gif

Posted by: rokchik Oct 30 2007, 07:39 AM

Led Zeppelin
Rage Against the Machine
Guns and Roses

I think most of my favorite bands have split up for some reason or another....death, musical direction, front man is nuts tongue.gif

Edit: also must add Fleetwood Mac and Janes Addiction.

It's not just Blink 182. I pretty much hate all punk rock. Greenday is at the top of my list, but for me it's just the repetitive riffs and no solos in all of the songs that I've heard by Blink 182's.

Posted by: The Uncreator Oct 30 2007, 11:44 AM

Also i must say 'Sentenced', they mutually called it quits in '06 i believe, which is better than a sudden break up, but they are a truly unique band with a truly unique sound and style, I miss them sad.gif

Posted by: Guitar Master123 Oct 30 2007, 12:28 PM

Everyones favorite bands have split up. i think that is because the classic rock era was 1950-1980. Now the world of music has been taken over by genres like pop, rap, hip-hop, and punk rock. dry.gif

I saw Floyd in England in like 76 77 or 78 I forget which year it was, I was seeing a lot of groups back then in a lot of different area's of Europe. The concert was OK, not great. From what I remember they screwed up quite a bit and had a lot of technical difficulties with their elaborate effects. It was still cool to see Floyd though, it was one of the concerts I really wanted to see. Matter of fact I think I've seen everyone I've ever wanted to see with the exception of Zeppelin and of course the Beatles. One of the good things about being my age is that I've been able to see a lot of original acts when they were hot. Acts like:

Black Sabbath (76 or 77)
Ac/Dc (Germany 76 or 77)
(Above was the same concert)

Queen (orpheam theatre, Boston ma like 74 or 75)
Floyd (England like 77 or 78)
Judas Priest(England 78 or 79)
Stones original band (Boston Garden 74 I think?)
David bowie(ziggy stardust tour, 73, 74 or 75))
Kiss original tour in the 70's(74 or 75)
Deep Purple(Boston Garden 75 or 76

Tickets were a lot easier to get back in the day, lol. I've seen probably 80 concerts all together, some groups several times.

+1000000000 on Sentenced.. they were so awesome.. and unique.. And they passed away in their best... not as some other metal bands, who doesnt know, when the show is over...

Also.. I miss Blood for blood.. they were very inspiring.. and everytime, when I was "held down and kicked around".. they just made me feel, I am not the only one:)

Posted by: Mr T Jan 1 2008, 12:15 PM

I have to add Skunk Anansie to the list. Would have loved to see them live sometime.

Posted by: Overkiller Jan 1 2008, 12:30 PM

Jeez, It's pretty amazing that no one said Pantera. They're (for me) the best metal band on planet earth. R.I.P.

Led Zeppelin have said they're going to do more reunion concerts, right? They're also just... awesome!! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jakub Luptovec Jan 1 2008, 12:34 PM

Was said already;) And.. the problem is not, that they spilt... problem is in dead Dime.. You know, Phil himself said, that he was sure, that in few years, they would sit tohgether, said sorry to each other and started making music again..
