Hello and welcome aboard!
You don't have to submit any videos or rec into the theory program!
I will be explaining you theory step by step and will do some pop quizzes!
I have a few questions before we will start!
-What are your goals?
-What is your weakness?
-What is your strongest point?
-Your favorite guitar players?

Theory questions (will help me to get a better idea where to start! )

- Harmonize G major scale
- Build A7 chord
- Write ii - V - I chord progression starting with Cmi7
- D mi7 - Bb - Gmi - F What key this chord progression in?

As for goals, I'd like to be able to apply theory to my playing, and not struggle to work everything out. I'd like to compose.

Weaknesses -> hmmm, most of theory I guess, and certain practical things I'm working on, like legato, and bends, and sweeping..

In Theory, maybe timing, since I play drums.. (but even the theory here I sometimes am shaky)..

For Harmony, G, A, B, C, D, E, F♯, G
becomes A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G#, A

As for A 7:
D Major Scale is :
D, E, F♯, G, A, B, C♯, D
The 5th is A..
So A, C#, E, G
(I think)

So for II V I:
Scale is Bb
Bb C D Eb F G A
Cm7 F7 Bb7

(Again, I think) --> I'm a little shaky on this kind of thing..

The chords listed at the last question are in the key of F...um... I think ..

Hello! I am glad to have you on my mentoring program!
I would like you to harmonize G major scale using chords:
Gmaj7 - Ami7 etc.

Everything else was correct!
The chord progression can be in two keys Bb and F
here is how to look at it:
D mi7 - Bb - Gmi - F
F major scale harmonized:
F - Gmi - Ami - Bb - C - Dmi - E dim

Bb major scale harmonized:

Bb - Cmi - Dmi - Eb - F - Gmi - Adim

You can see that the triads are the same in both keys so unless I will be using 7th chords it can be both!

Hey

So my question is, do you want the 7th (as Harmony) on the chords of the Gmaj Scale? or do you want harmonious chords?

Hey,

The chrods for harmony are broken up like this:

Gmaj7 (G B D F)
Amin7 (A C E G)
Bmin7 (B D F# A)
Cmaj7 (C E G
D7 (D F# A C)
Emin7 (E G B D)
F#m7b5 (F# A C E)

You can use
D minor pentatonic
F major pentatonic
F major scale
D minor scale

I'm playing around with some Ideas for it, but I'm finding it difficult to get whats in my head onto the guitar, my fingers seem to play slower than my brain

You did a very good job! I liked your ideas and you had some very great moments!
If you will turn down gain you will be able to get better dynamic in your playing also it sounded like your guitar was a little out of tune?
Also if you would leave a little more space between phrases it will help you develop solo much smoother!
Have you hear about Question and Answer technique?

No it is when you are pretending that it is a conversation and trying to play a phrase and than response back with the same idea
Question and answer technique
There are a few different types of question and answer technique
You can go even numbers or even/odd number of phrases!
Just pretend it's a conversation between a men and a woman!
Low octave is men hight is woman!
This is the best and the fastest way to master Q&A technique!
Playing two notes in a lower register and replying in a higher register with two notes as well

You can keep going in even numbers! This technique will help you develop your solo so you don't show everything right away!
Very good technique to use when you are got caught on the spot and have to play something right away!
