...should I?

I'm a Jackson man and have 3 Jacksons (KE2, RR1, Soloist) with various combinations of Seymour Duncan passive pick ups in my collection.

I have never used EMG's but know they are well thought off, and I have never owned active pick-ups. I play alot of music and have the most eclectic taste, but when it comes to thrash/melodeath I know that often the Duncans are ill suited, even if the scream at rock and metal.

Will the ESP fill a hole and how do you rate the price? (I have already haggled quite a bit wink.gif!)

The 81's have a ... I don't know how to describe them ... clean, very sharp(?) tone. I would mix a bridge 81 with a neck 85 for a softer (muddier?) option but that's my preference, you might like 2 81's.

Ahh, excellent. Sounds exactly what I need...!

How does the price seem, I know websites are charging £1300+ but I'm dubious about most of these prices, seem rather steep for what it is!? blink.gif

(or is it limited edition or something I dont know about?)

Personally, considering the guitars you do have already, especially the Soloist, unless you really need one for gigs, different tunings, or other things, i think you dont need it...

BUT....

If you got the cash and are liking the guitar, hell, whats the problem with owning another sweet guitar? biggrin.gif

At the moment within our sets I only need 2 guitars per gig, and I pick and choose between the Jacksons. But my current guitars are not providing the clean metal crunch and high gain that I would like to experiment with.

Been looking at the prices on eBay and from the looks of it £700 from my mate is an absolute steal, so I think I'd better snap it up. Read some great reviews.

...and I love the fact that it looks so vulgar biggrin.gif
