I don't want to go cranking on it with an allen wrench in case it is involved in the delicate balance of keeping the floyd in tune. Anyone know what it is for?

I have something similar on my Wolfgang, If it's the same all it is is an adjustment for the whammy bar on the floyd rose. If your whammy bar ever starts to get loose or move around within it's housing, then tightening this will make it... tighter again biggrin.gif

Great ! biggrin.gif
I hadn't seen this and was wondering how to get my whammybar to fall down all the time laugh.gif

Edit:
After trying to use it i found out that screw was already tightened as far is it goes.
My whammy bar is very loose, is there any way to fix this?

When you say loose, in which direction do you mean? The allen key adjustment mentioned above is for stopping the floyd rose being loose in the vertical direction. So it would need tightening if the whammy bar lifts up or pushes down a little bit without actually altering the pitch. So it kind of wobbles in its housing. If it's loose in the sense that it spins round to easily, this can be adjusted but it might be different on different guitars.

My guitar has a screw adjustment on the whammy bar itself to hold it in place, tightening this makes my whammy bar stay a bit more fixed.

Different Floyd/tremolo models vary though, so it might be worth checking other peoples advice here.

It does both, It spins around easy and it lifts up or pushes down a
little bit without actually altering the pitch.

The screw is fully tightened and i can't find anything else to make it less loose.
(it's an Ibanez rg350dx)

I have a RG350DX as well and it looks like this.
You can access the screws when you completely bend down the whammy bar (release tension of the strings). There are actually two screws to tighten the whammy bar. The screws are kind of deep in and are not visible like on the photos above. Have a look ...

Thanks alot biggrin.gif

I had to buy a new .. wrenchthingytool.. cause i didn't have one that small
but now its great, the whammy bar stays in position and it doesn't move without altering pitch.
