It's not Drop-D or Power Chords, but Whoracle by In Flames has only 2 Chords and i love to Jam over it.
I think it was in A-Minor or something.

Smoke on the water (Deep Purple)
Drain you (Nirvana) almost everything from nirvana is easy
What I've done (Linkin Park)
Kryptonite (3 doors down)
Narcotic (Liquido)
Nothing else matters (Metallica)
Sweet Child O'mine (Guns 'n Roses)
Californication (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

These are some simple songs you could play (assuming you play rhytm)
If you know any scales that would help, even if you have to stay in the same box.
When the other guys start playing a song you don't know you should just ask them what key it is in, or what chords they use (bass player often uses the same chords as guitar) so you can improvise or play chords/arpeggio's in the same scale.

If you would like to know some more songs, you could send me a PM and I will get you some. Playing for about 1,5 year, I guess you're roughly the same level as I am.
