Ahh man, what a cool show Paul Gilbert and his band played last night at the Brook in southampton.
Its a small venue but was packed to the rafters, the only downer on the night was there wasnt enough ladies around!Just
full of us musical blokes watching in awe as our collective jaws dropped at the same time

He did nearly all of his new album and didnt hit one bad note all night, and his band were tight.I had a great view of him side stage just above his wife(who plays keys)looking out of a window just above the stage(one of the bars was just behind me so it seemed the perfect place to be,with a new cold beer within easy reach!)we could make out his setlist taped to the Keyboard and could see his drill lying ontop of his marshal combo that he used fronted by a big pedal board

Have to say his tone was killer, and I expect he used his small rig for this sized venue. His Ibanez ice man type guitar sounded realy wide!He used that for most of the show apart from a couple of times when his old ibanez came out and also at the end when he closed the show with the Whos Long Live Rock

He sung Green tinted sixties mind, daddy brother lover, red house, long live rock and an old song he loved as a kid but I cant remember it!and played a few racer x tracks including scarified and technical difficulities

If you get a chance to see him live, then do so.the tracks played sound better than on record!

The only other downer is a realy long drum solo! tongue.gif The bass player was realy good and mrs Gilbert was realy good on the keys too-in fact I think she must have sampled Pauls overdriven guitar tone and used that as a preset for some of her leads as when they traded licks later on it sounded just like paul!lol amazing

Just joined this site after seeing Lori linking it on her site, and have pinched a couple of country licks while
looking at a lot of the videos here. Not that they will fit in with my bands style, but there fun to play

anyway cheers to the instructors, and keep the vids coming:)
