I've been playing for a while and have recently joined guitarmasterclass. So far i'm really enjoying the site!

I play a Rickenbacker 330/6 and love the jangle sound! I'm really in to the Smiths and early R.E.M. guitar sound. I was wondering if anyone knew any exercises so that I could improve picking chord shapes

Cheers in advance

Hey Chrisn! Out of curiousity is it the fretting hand or picking hand that your having trouble with?

And i see you've been playing a while- what kind of chords are you talking about? Open chords, barre chords ..etc...

Hopefully i can do a quick search for a lesson for you (if you narrow it down a little more wink.gif )

Cheers,

Deep

I've not explained very well,

In terms of types of chords it's both open and barre. If for example the chord progression was A, D, E , I'm looking for exercises to make picking the chords interesting.

Cheers

I know Muris has some great picking lessons. But if you use the search function and type in " picking chords " you should come up with quite a few different lessons. I look for you but my laptop is doing some funny things at the moment. If I can fix I'll post a link for you smile.gif

rok

EDIT: Ok fixed it. here is a link to the search I did. I you hope find what your looking for smile.gif

Ahh - if i understand you correctly- you want to play chords and "mix up" the order of the notes a bit instead of just straight "strumming"

Would it have to be using a pick? Or are you open to trying out fingerpicking?

Ofcourse you could apply picking instead of finger picking where you see fit smile.gif

Here's a couple i really like the sound of- there may be some things that dont interest you, or maybe you dont like the technique, but remember you can apply this method of chording to using a pick too.

Is that the kind of thing your looking for?

If not ill try looking some more smile.gif
