We cleaned our hard drive on our computer recently. Before doing so, we put our "My Pictures" folder onto an external hard drive. Wiped out the desktop, and when I went to put the My Pictures folder back into the desktop, the folder was empty. We lost ALL of our pictures!!! So I brought the desktop to the computer store, and the guy was able to retrieve the pictures...but they are all thumbnail size. When you try to open them, they open up to the same thumbnail size. These are useless needless to say. Does anyone know if you can make these pictures bigger in Photoshop without losing resolution?

Have you tried Recuva? smile.gif
http://www.piriform.com/recuva

A recovery peogram for deleted files!

If that doesn't work, I'll certainly try to make the thumbnails bigger (although I don't think it'll work)...
If it's possible, I'll make it happen! smile.gif

I know that you can't do that. What the guy recovered was maybe the thumbs.db file, not useful data. I'm sorry you lost your photos sad.gif

Looks like you've lost them unfortunately. I wish you luck with that program but from your post I see no solution.

One CD that is packed with utilities is Hiren's Boot CD, which can be found on sites we all know, but are not allowed to discuss...
There is many proggies for recovering lost files, if You havent formatted the drive or partitioned it, it's a good chance that its still there...
Making them bigger will not simply do....

Try a software called undelete plus .. It seems there has been a lot that has happened ever since the files got deleted.. The more new files you save, the less are your chances of recovering old files.

+1 for Hiren boot CD.. Always have it in your computer drawer.

Sorry to hear about your files.

I don't think you can make them bigger without losing resolution.

two ways: take them again tongue.gif biggrin.gif

try the software to recover deleted data. Data is never deleted until it is rewritten.

Glad you found out. I once deleted a lot of photos from my parents' digital camera on accident. I got most of them back with some similar program, but I cannot remember the name of it.
