A Musical Project I've Made, And it needs ALOT of feedback and critique

Hey there GMC!

About two months ago I started with this "musical project" of mine, a song that would improve me not only as a guitarist, but also as a musician and songwriter. The song itself could maybe fit inside the genre "Technical progressive metal" or something like that and I'm playing it with my band.

When I started I had really no idea what to do, or how to do it. For example, I had never before written a single bassline and just a few drumlines and I had never even dreamed about writing a song in this kind of difficult music. But as a fan of odd time signatures I started working on some ideas.
Now, two months and alot of work later I have almost every part I need for the song. Note that it is far from done, for example no part has been repeated yet. Also note that I've written every single note and track completely by myself and with just a little feedback on a drumline. Due to this enormous lack of feedback and critique I now turn to all of you GMC:ers who would like to help.

What I'd like you to check for:
- Parts that "annoy" you in some way, maybe you don't feel the groove or such
- Things that just feels "to much"

...and ofcourse, what you like and and what you DON'T like (especially this) and why.
And please, please spam me with stuff to improve, remove, redo or whatever!

I'll provide a GP 5.2 tab and a GP4 tab for those of you who use older versions.

Thank you very much!
//Kim

Normally I don't consider progressive metal for my "territory" as it often gets too much odd time signatures and no real melody, but this was actually pretty fine smile.gif "Pretty fine" might sound kind of stupid, but it's actually a very positive comment for me tongue.gif I just wonder how you can remember what to play in song after song with all these time signatures and modulations blink.gif

Haha thank you very much smile.gif Well it do requires alot of practise but I usually rehearsal with notation and tablature until I got it all in my head, and don't mind all time signature changes. Once you get the melody in your head it is really not that hard

That was a quite interesting piece smile.gif
I really liked the arrangement and the good use of time signatures.

If i were to point out a section that i think could be improved, then it's the section that starts at bar 127.
Instead of using just octaves like for example:

-14- -10-
-x--- -x--
-12- -8--

Try this

-14- -10-
-10- -7--
-12- -8-

Those extra added notes could give it a good push.

Thanks! And yeah, the dropped C tuning gives a really cool sound on alot of riffs. And I will start recording the guitar parts in a couple of days, then I'll upload it here for some mixing critique biggrin.gif

And I'd like even more replies smile.gif Every opinion is a good one for helping the song evolve ever more.
Thanks!
