Also true smile.gif It's fun to experiment with picks to see the subtle differences in them. Not everyone can even notice that there are differences. I like to try wads of picks during recording to be able to hear them on playback. I've noticed that the differences are a bit easier to detect when simply listening rather than playing and listening, but even then you can usually still hear them smile.gif

They have slightly more rigidity than the red ones too.

I remember I used to use V-Picks. I think it was something called the Screamer, but I eventually grew tired of the chirp sound they make. It's funny because people used to ask me on YouTube, are you playing with glass? laugh.gif

Hahahah smile.gif Playing with Glass!! I like it smile.gif I had my signature series "Buffed" to cut down on the chirp effect. Also the pick angle can greatly increase or decrease that. It's partly the materials being used in addition to technique involved that causes the chirping for some players. Did you try the buffed switchblade?

Also, did you ever get any vonhotch picks? I quit using the Jazz III XL after getting my first vonhotch. The way the von glided across the strings was just amazing. Switched back to the Jazz just to make sure and then put them down for good. Of course, picks are a very personal choice so not every pick is for every player. As a guy that uses an 8 string, I can tell you that the von is also the best extended range pick I"ve ever tried. My low F# used to chew up plastic picks all day. Not so when the von which is made out of aircraft grade aluminum smile.gif

I'm also a dedicated Jazz III user, red AND black. Both ARE different in feel. I started with reds. I remember that in the beginning I needed to addapt my playing for strumming parts, as these picks are smaller and stiffer than the picks I used before. But now , I'm used to that and playing with a "normal sized", 0.70 pick feels strange now. Why reds AND blacks ?? Maybe this is stupid but although they are pretty similar to eachother , there's still a difference and it gives me kind of a fresh and stimulating feeling : playing with something new.... Just psychological bullsh.... , but it works for me biggrin.gif
