GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Acoustic Songs

Posted by: Shadow21 Jul 20 2008, 03:40 PM

Hi all!

This is the first topic I make here.

I've been in gmc for a while now, and I think it's great, it has really helped me a lot.

I mostly play electric guitar, but I have an acoustic one too that I hardly play tongue.gif , so the thing is I want to start playing it more often.
Can somebody tell me some cool songs to learn on acoustic?

Cheers.
Have a good day biggrin.gif

No problem man. THe good thing to do with acoustics is to sing along, this way you improve your voice as well. smile.gif

I find playing accoustic is about having fun with a group of people so play songs people know and don't be afraid to leave your genre of choice, because no matter the song its still fun to sing along with! heres my suggestions

-The Beatles-- ANYTHING biggrin.gif.. try doing Hey Jude but switching the name to a friend who particularly stands out smile.gif
-Imagine by John Lennon (even though its piano)
-Hey There Delihla- Plain White T's
-Dream On- Areo Smith
-Anything by Bob Dylan ( and you can learn to play harmonica smile.gif )
- Yellow by Coldplay
- and then just stuff that sounds good alone

My favorites for accoustic are
Harvest by Opeth
Windowpane by Opeth
Hope leaves by Opeth
Coil by Opeth
(Warning Capo is Need)
Stuff by Porcupine Tree as well

have fun!

A good one in my opinion to play and sing is Possum Kingdom by the Toadies,
It's kinda dark but fun at the same time...

Have fun

As Ivan said the acoustic is great to play and work on your singing if you're familiar with the Beatles anything by them is great, 'castles made of sand' by Hendrix another fav on the acoustic for me smile.gif
I am currently working on Ebon Coast by Andy McKee, it's a tough piece but refreshing to test my limits
