Hey GMC biggrin.gif

Been shopping new amp last 2 days and finally made a decision smile.gif

I looked at home/practice amps, and looked around for some tube hybrid combos..

I tried out different amps.. And the shop owner flashes this all tube Peavey valveking 112 at me, and said: "Just wait a minute for it to warm up then grab a guitar and try it out" .. So I did .. In the corner i found a '68 stratocaster in dakota red with one piece neck.. (fingerboard+neck same piece) .. Sweet .. I really liked the amp, so I fetched my own guitar and jammed at the shop for an hour or so then took it tongue.gif

Went for a 15-30w amp maybe hybrid, and came home with a 50w all tube tongue.gif Couldn't resist the sound for puny 700$ (~3200 DKK).. and then I just bargained the top off the price too happy.gif paid 665$ (~3000 DKK).

Now I just have to get to know this fella biggrin.gif

Nice choice, sounds bright because of 6L6's, usually Peavey is muddy on cleans but this one has some spark in it. Drive is cool too.

Congratulations, wish you a lot of happy times with it smile.gif

Thanks smile.gif

Im really glad I made the decision and went for it. The lead channel with some gain sounds amazing, the pedals emulating this gain/distortion don't get the same depth as a real tube amp.. At least thats my experience.

I am cranking this baby up and practicing my a... err.. hands.. off.. was going to say hands..

Congratulations!

I have the same amp, and I haven't even looked at another amp since I got mine, over a year ago. Not even those big and fancy Laney, Marshals or other amps. I suppose I'll get there eventually, but untill that, I just love this amp. The clean sound is amazing, I like the distortion, even though I use a metal muff for distortion mostly. But really, great choice, I don't think you'll regret it, especially for the price.

Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

Congrats on the new amp Rooks! wink.gif

I'm interested to know, isn't it too loud for home practice (50W all tube)? Does it break at low volume? I'm on the look since a long time ago for a valve amp to practiceº at home, but I'm afraid of them being too loud!

I'd say it depends on how you live. It sounds decent at low volume, just not to low. If you have people living wall to wall with you it might not work out, but otherwise it's good for it, if your family can live with the volume.

But for only home practicing I'd get a 20w laney tube instead or something.

I really love my Pod X3 but im looking to start or join a band in the future and so will need a practice amp. I am wondering if this might be what im looking for?

I want to be able to play high gain / presence stuff but also rock and cleans too. I bought a Vox AC15cc last year and it was a BIG mistake for me as basically I like high gain ala Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Buckethead...

I also love the idea of the 6L6 tubes.... biggrin.gif Oh yes and Im poor too laugh.gif laugh.gif
