Cool topic.

I don't know much about them. But my impression is that they do everything by the book but seem to have no genuine love for, or connection with, their audience.

smile.gif Replying to a troll is like wrestling a pig. The pig gets enjoyment from it, but all you get is dirty. The worst part is: your reply encourages more threads like this.

I don't really agree with the conclusion that we should not feed this discussion -

Because this opinion is not something jstcrsn came up with by himself. Oddly enough it represents an opinion which is still out there - and it is even adopted by US president Trump. So I think the discussion is OK as it is highly relevant.

Just as with so many other destructive human habits - an overwhelming amount of evidence needs to be presented over a long period of time, until new facts are finally widely accepted.

Cool!

I am missing the intro notes: these kind of small embellishments are super important and can make a static strumming work come to life.

I also like to comment on groove/feeling: and I suggest you try to get a feel for how Guido really locks in with the rhythm. You can see both his foot and head feeling/moving to the up- and downbeats. It might be worth testing if supporting the rhythm with the rest of your body can help you find the pocket.

You get a 5 from me - but I think with just a little more work you can turn this into an enjoyable piece of music. Keep going!

QUOTE (AK Rich @ Jun 20 2017, 07:38 PM) *
The fact is, stretching back decades, virtually every alarmist prediction that was testable has been proven embarrassingly wrong. In many cases the opposite of those predictions has come to pass. And all the fascist fear mongering that can be mustered doesn't change that, even when historical data has been "altered" and current data "adjusted" to make the failed models work. Corrupting the peer review process to eliminate views that are critical to the CAGW theory has nothing to do with science and everything to do with politics. And things like threatening to criminalize climate change denial down to threatening to close this thread for the reasons and non-factual claims that have been stated here most recently is more of the same fascist bs.

So because other warnings have turned out to be false we should just ignore the overwhelming evidence this time?

And no one has answered my initial question: even if all credible scientists are wrong and you're right, why would you not want to find sustainable alternatives anyway?

I think your question was " It's not like greenhouse gas emission makes anybody happier anyway?", to answer that I need to know what the optimal level ( parts per million ) of green house gases , that the earth needs to be for the best Plant . animal , human experiences , since my science is so disconnected, is it not fair to ask for yours ?

No you don't need to know that, you just need to explain what advantages you see in continued high greenhouse gas emissions (if any) - since that is what you are advocating.

QUOTE (jstcrsn @ Jun 18 2017, 11:49 PM) *
Todd has pm ed me twice as to why I think the way I think . I said I answer in a thread . I will keep videos off if you feel it necessary but thought the only way is to list the science I have . Is it not fair to be skeptical when some one says seas will rise and flood coastal cities if the caps melt and then I read NASA l saying the antarctic is compensating along with in the other thread the swedish institute say they reclassified the melting and gave us extra decades. Now just between those 2 stories (to me ) warrant not going overboard .

Now when you say " climate change " and that I deny it , Thats wrong , I don't . I am very skeptical of ' act now or we die science ' because governments only give monies to problems and scientists can be as unethical of the rest of us. A scientist in the 80's was warning policy makers of climate freezing , fast forward a few decades , same person in obamas admin claiming global warming , that didn't work so now it comes to us in the package of climate change . I guess fool me once shame on you , fool me twice shame on me . I guess that's why it seems the older generations are more of my mindsets , but I tell you this , once you been burned , you will be skeptical .

can I ask you a question . When I bring a video of Dr. Roy spencer ( head of Alabama U climatology )giving his science , Why do you just throw it out the window , He is the one that NASA gets many of there maps from and he was just saying they are reading the data wrong ?

Not sure what you are talking about - we have to act now or we will die. There is nowadays almost complete consensus among respected scientists - and the only reason we allow you to post your disconnected opinion here is because we value freedom of speech.

The reason I do not view any of your suggested links/videos anymore is because you have proven time after time you do not exercise source criticism - and when you do stumble over a valid article, you seem to miss the point anyway.

Now forgive me for sounding harsh - but the opinion you are pushing here is a direct threat to the survival of yours and my children. So unless you can actually answer my question through your own analysis without pasting links - there is a major risk I will close this thread.

And just to clarify - everytime we post a link here we do give it a push in search engines - and as you can understand I do value the life of my kids higher than your right to vent extreme opinions about climate change here. Hence my threat of closing this thread.

Can you give us a list of the gear and software you are using to create your live streams on youtube? Looks like a very spiff production smile.gif

Todd

Thanks Todd!

I use the built-in imac camera for the face shot, and a canon XH A1 for the guitar shot. I use a third party software called iGlasses to control exposure and white balance of the built in cam.

I use wirecast pro to blend all three shots (including the desktop shot). Wirecast also allows me to delay both audio and video - so that I can make sure all the different sources are (somewhat!) in sync when streaming.

Kemper for guitar sound, connected via spdif to the built in optical-in on imac and then to logic pro - a stereo signal is importnat for cool delays/reverb. I also use logic pro to monitor the kemper signal without latency.

I use a cheap TSM condenser mic for my voice, connected to a TC-Helicon VoiceLive Touch 2 for realtime compression and sometimes vocal effects, connected to the computer via apogee duet 2.

I use "sound siphon" software to send a mix of system audio + my guitar and vocal signal to the viewers, to be able to jam over requested backings.

I have created a multi input device through Macos' audio-midi setup, to mix the duet 2 sound interface with the built-in optical input.

I use four cheap photo lamps for lighting + lots of guitars!! laugh.gif

Jstcrsn - even if you don't agree with science about climate change (which you're entitled to) - what's your incentive to argue?

It's not like greenhouse gas emission makes anybody happier anyway?

I can't stop listening to this one - you just can't beat meaningful lyrics delivered by someone who believes in them:

One World.
Let's come together people
In the name of Peace
No more Fighting
That's alright by Me

Exist in harmony
None left on the outside
Life's enlightening
That's right by I and I

One love, one happiness
One global community
Ending confrontation
Yeah, that's OK by me

-------

Not that it really matters, but I am currently thinking this might be the most touching collab we have had so far at GMC.

Here you can see how the song was created by our community:

Oh my God what have you people done! Do you realise how good this is??

This is like we brought back Johnny Cash, Bob Marley and John Lennon to write a final track together.

Sensible - you are a genius and you have outdone yourself!! Fantastic job everybody. I am sticking this to the frontpage.

I haven't felt any need to chime in here, nowadays there is pretty much world wide consensus on this topic among scientists.

However in reference to this...

Just a friendly reminder that embeded videos never take these discussion to a good place, so please refrain from them.

Your own analysis of the situation is what we want to hear.

...I will close this topic. It is unfortunately not the first time those weird content emedded videos ruin our discussions :/

I agree with Gab.

From what we can tell here this is probably a decent take - but we cannot really give you a high grade without fully hearing you.

Yeah!! That arpeggio technique is sooo smooth Monica - well done!

There are two things that prevent me from fully enjoying this take:

* vibrato: a bit uneven and not really matching how Darius phrased his. ie the first vibrato note around 00:06 where we can hear how Darius gradually builds up his vibrato intensity/width.

* timing: It does seem to me you are focused on all the details and not as much on groove. This feels especially obvious in the beginning, after a while you get more into 'the zone'. For example the beginning of the slide lick at 00:08 does not have the same effect as Darius' - solely because of timing.

Nevertheless this is an amazing take and testimony of your super hard work! You get an 8 from me. You blow us away - keep going!

This fix seems to have solved the issue for another user. So if you have flash installed - but still cannot see videos, try this (use the browser Google chrome):

Thanks for reporting.

To help us determine whether this is caused by changes on our end, any additional details you can give us are appreciated. (when did it start happening, does it happen on all your units/browsers? ). Thanks!
