Anyone know books filled with country-licks/related theory? I already got the country guitar method, from hal leonard. I'm lookingto implement country in the blues-rock playing. It's an awesome combo. I already know some licks, and love to mastern the open string thingys:D Think Brent Mason, John 5 and Sol Philcox. Oh, well, I dont really think there are needed any books. I think You will do fine with the knowledge You got + learning some chicken pickin stuff. I think You will benefit a lot more of actually listen to the phrasing (which is kinda tricky) and to do some transcribing in order to learn the style. Also, the sound is most important (kinda compressed) and where You pick the strings. (preferable close to the bridge) //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. the tone I got down as good as I can with a stratocaster now, im just looing for some chicken picking/open string licks. I find it really hard to transcribe most of this stuff since it's realfast A friend of mine who plays a lot country (i can't for some reason, most obviously because I dont really liked it) says that most licks is pre-determined rather than improvised and has its own place in particular songs. If its too fast to transcribe, You can always slow it down with Amazing Slowdowner/Transcribe or use the functions in Your DAW. //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans.
