Started out brand new 1 year ago. With the right gear and GMC ive been able to really learn alot. But ive been having a difficult time learning:

Mute (fade in) ( repeat with alternate picking )
E||----------------------|-----------------------|
B||-----1716------/-/-/--|-/-/-/--/-/-/----------|
G||--------1816---/-/--/-|-/-/-/--/-/-/----------|
D||----------------------|-----------------------|
A||----------------------|-----------------------|
E||----------------------|-----------------------|

Ive spent hours apon hours practicing this and I cant seem to get it down. If anyone has a technique, that maybe im not aware of or something, I would greatly appreciate it.

Been following the lesson plans since the beginning lessons. (it works) Started playing a few hours every day. Than I learned the solo for Journey's (Don't stop believin) . Its a great rush when you work on something and it sounds pretty good. Then I decided to upgrade from my 130$ Laguna to a Epiphone LP Ultra. My problem is I'm learning the a few different Slash riffs, but the sound is terrible. I have a Line 6 Spider lll. I did change the strings to the EB Slinky 11 gage, but I cannot get anywhere near close to a Slash sound.

Is it wrong guitar or wrong amp, or wrong user?

Thanks

Trying to learn Seven Nation Army by White Stripes. Got the first part down but sounds nothing like the actual song. Been reading and It requires a sub octave effect to sound like the real song. When I looked into that, there is all sorts of octave effects out there. How do i know which one will work? Never really looked into those before.
