Today, I continued through my journey on learning JerryC's arrangement of Canon Rock. I was playing the main melody part and started to see that my sync between my left hand and right hand isn't exactly good...I wanted to use the metronome but I have no idea how to use it in order to learn a song. Can anybody explain that to me?

Thanks

You dont use the metronome to learn a song in that sense. A short explanation would be that it's used to get your playing tight in what tempo you set the metronome to.

You take a sequence of notes that you are having trouble with, brake it down to smaller sections suitable for practicing (4-7 notes). Then you take a metronome and play each part starting from 60bpm with whole notes, and going up by 20bpm. When you get to 120bpm then you transfer to half notes, then again up by 20bpm , and eventually you will come to quarter notes and push as much as you can BUT ALWAYS be sure that you play everything PERFECT. Notes are very important. As soon as you see that you are not playing as perfect as you did on slower tempos stop you reached a ceiling. Stop and try other day.

Maybe instead you should focus on Hands synch lessons to correct that flaw?

Danilo's hand synch 1
Danilo's hand synch 2
Danilo's hand synch 3

The best way to learn a song is to use Guitar Pro and it works like a metronome

I disagree. The best way is to learn it by ear, and what you can't play 100 percent... break it down and go by metronome. What if... what if there's a song you want to play, and no one has tabbed it down yet? poor you, lucky me tongue.gif

If you have the notes, the best way (AFAIK) is to learn the notes first.
Just the notes, not the rythm.
When your fingers knows where to go, you can add the rythm.

Or so I've heard.

That way you concentrate on one thing at a time. smile.gif

QUOTE ("Steve Vai")
Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.
