Hi all,

Ive been on the GMC site for the last year and been making steady progress.

Ive recently noticed a potential issue with my alternate picking that i wanted to just get some advice on.

Its best explained by discussing what ive been doing recently (albeit without noticing) on 3 notes per string scales.

So I start on the 6th string (E string) and pick "down - up - down" and then move to the 5th string (the A sting) often with a "down - up - down" again. This seems to be happening naturally because im moving "down" from the 6th string to the 5th string and so the movement of going down just carries on across the string.

Question is whether this is wrong or not. I think it may be affecting my speed potential at the higher speeds but im not sure as it may just be a skill level issue rather than a fundamental flaw ?

Do I need to spend the time to get it so that when moving down to the 5th string in this instance that I pick "up" first.

Hopefully this makes sense. Appreciate anyones advice on this and am prepared to work this problem out if thats the best advice.

Thanks

Hey Carlos,

Loving your edge style lesson.

Whilst i have solved the problem of the question below by getting my speed up to 120bpm so that the delay works properly for the setting you put in the main lesson can you please tell me how you calculate the 408ms setting ?

Also once you tell me how you calculate this i will be able to calculate the delay to play along to the slower 90/100 and 110 bpm backing tracks that you have put on the lesson.

I look forward to hearing your answer. It really is a beautiful track smile.gif

With thanks

Hi David,

Am busy working my way through your in the style of Brian May lesson which is, as always, excellent.

I have a quick question on the tone you created there. Brian's guitar sound is very distinct and is based on his unusual semi hollow guitar with burns pick ups in series, a treble booster and a Vox AC30 on full power. You seem to have got pretty close to replicating it in the lesson though.

Can you please let me know the settings you used to achieve this... presume you managed it through your POD XT ?

With thanks

Mav

ps - Do you have plans for any more lessons in Brians style. He is my all time favourite guitarist smile.gif
