Hey guys,

I came across this guitar in one of my local guitar shops, i'd never seen it before and it was pretty damn expensive ($3500! @_@) anyhoo, it's the signature model for some Japanese artist called "Ace" (from a band interestingly called "Face to the Ace") and i was kinda drawn to it because it looks pretty different to most other guitars i usually see.

Chances are i'd be hard pressed to get one for cheaper when i'm living back in the UK so i thought it might be nice to consider picking it up in the future and bringing it back with me.

I haven't played it yet, the owner of the store i went to is pretty annoying and assumes that you're gong to by anything you try, so i definitely don't wanna get his hopes up with the most expensive guitar in the store (just yet hehe).

Anyhoo here are the specs, lemme know what you think!

“SUSANOH” Transparent Red with Black Line The original body shape is designed by Ace,
whom is a Japanese leading guitarist.
Ace named it after Japanese old god "SUSANOH" by the image of the shape.

The structures of the body and neck are based on Angelus-ACE,
and mounted the original control invented by Ace,
which is the professional control pattern to manipulate 3 humbucking pickups.

Just read this and thought it was quite funny.

Air Guitar T-Shirt

Seems like some Australian boffins have created a t-shirt that will allow air guitar movements to be converted into actual sounds by using motion sensor technology embedded in the shirt.

Maybe the next generation of guitarists will be playing on THIN AIR, our days are numbered boys and girls blink.gif *puts on tin foil hat* wacko.gif

Hello all

Turns out a number of my friends play various instruments and have decided that it's time to put together a little group with the sole intention of jamming (i doubt we'll be doing the "band thing" as our situation can't really accomodate that). Whilst i haven't been playing all that long and don't feel i'm any good at all, i feel that playing with other people in this environment is a great way to learn new things and important in my guitar development.

I've only got a week before our first jam session and i have never done any "jamming" before, or even played in front of other people so i'm kinda nervous (excited too obviously!).

Anyhoo, can anyone give any advice for the prospective jammer? I'd be super grateful if anyone could recommend a few of the easier lessons that would be suited for that environment, just so i have a more comfortable bank of easy things to play or something simple that i can easily mess around with and vary with different strumming patterns and such (all styles are ok!).

All help is much appreciated! Cheers.

This is just me trying to satisfy a bit of curiosity.

I'm a left handed (and footed!) person, in pretty much every aspect of life i favour my left side, so much so that whenever i'm lost i tend to go left because i trust it more than going right laugh.gif

But seriously, when i first began guitar i thought i was going to have to get a left handed one, only to find that i couldn't play that way if my life depended on it, it was not comfortable at all. So i tried playing right handed and everything felt great! I've stuck with that ever since and never had any problems.

For me as a leftie, it just feels more logical to have my superior left hand doing the fretwork and the right hand taking care of the picking/strumming. I talked to some of my guitar-playing friends about this and they think i'm a bit weird, but i know i can't be the only one.

So i was just wondering if anyone on GMC is a leftie who plays right handed for similar reasons, or if anyone can tell me some famous/notable guitarists who are also the same way.

Cheers

Hello all,

I've got one of my guitars strung with Power Slinkies at the moment (11 gauge) and whilst i think they're great i'm beginning to find that my style of play relies a lot on bending and vibrato on the high E, B and G strings, which is a little bit tougher than i would like.

I was thinking of changing the strings completely to a lower gauge but i really love the Low E, A and D strings from the power slinkies, they are heavy and provide a great sound.

So i was just wondering if it's ok to just mix two different sets of strings, Power slinkies for the Low E, A and D strings and something lighter and easier to bend for the High E, B and G.

Whilst i can't imagine there'd be much of a problem doing it i just thought i'd ask for some opinions as to whether this would negatively affect anything, be it the guitar itself or the tone.

Thanks!
