Tone Qualities Of Different Wood, Guitar Necks + Fingerboards

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any info on what sort of woods give different tones in guitar necks and fingerboard combinations.

I am thinkin of getting a custom neck made up for my Warmoth strat....and wondering what wood I should choose, for example I have heard Maple neck and fingerboard give a darker tone and rosewood gives a brighter tone?
